When
Shar, our knitting instructor came to Beverly’s several years ago, so
did her commitment to serving the community of San Diego. Clairemont’s
Joining Hands was formed with a group of volunteers that meet at
Beverly’s on 6185 Balboa Avenue to join donated blocks together into
blankets for charity. Currently the blankets are donated to The Ronald McDonald House, Rady's Children's Hospital, Sharp Hospital Palliative Care, and The Center For Community Solutions.
Anyone
can donate blocks that are 7 by 9 inches, knit or crochet, plain or
patterned. They can be dropped off at Beverly’s collection box at any
time. Anyone can also come to join donated blocks the last Sunday of every month from 1-3PM. On March 30th Clairemont’s
Joining Hands had 14 volunteers show up who joined together 24 finished
blankets, over 200 blocks came in and 12 blankets are in progress!
These blankets will be divided between the 4 locations mentioned above.
Beverly’s would like to thank all those who participated and look
forward to seeing everyone again in the months to come.
“This
is our way of enabling our customers to give back in a way that puts
their beautiful creations to a wonderful use while letting others know
we care”, said Beverly’s knitting instructor Shar Pulver. Store Manager,
Peggy Leslie added, “Beverly’s is a family-owned & operated
California company that is committed to empowering our stores and their
local communities to serve those in need”.
