PolyHouse project

Tim Sleeper, son of Bob and Mary Sleeper of the Beverly's family helps Cal Poly engineering professor Roya Javadpour and her project management class with their annual home renovation service project in San Miguel. More than 40 students in the PolyHouse project are renovating the home of a disabled 16-year-old girl and her aging grandparents.

According to Javadpour, the teen was born with a heart defect and uses a wheelchair. She became severely and permanently disabled after falling into a coma. Her primary caregivers are her grandparents, who have parented more than 20 foster children. The home needs basic upgrades, such as fixing the heating system, and repairs to make a bathroom accessible.

Cal Poly student Tim Sleeper works on piping under the floor of a home in San Miguel.

Another Gift Card Holder!

Here's a gift box to make - perfect for a gift card! And super easy to make with the Crafters Companion Top Score multiboard.
Supplies:
Crafters Compamion Top Score multiboard
1 piece of double-sided cardstock
Paper cutter and scissors
Adhesive
Ribbon

Directions:
1. Cut two pieces of cardstock 3 1/2" x 4 3/4".
2. Using the Box Base edge of scoreboard, score on all 4 sides of cardstock in the first groove (about 5/8") in from the edge. (Right side should be down on the board.)
HINT: I like my boxes to fit snug and since this is a tiny box I am making the top and bottom exactly the same for a tight fit. If you prefer a less snug fit you can use the same dimensions for the top, BUT score on the Box Lid edge of the scoreboard.
3. Fold in on all score lines.
4. With card in an up and down position, snip on the the left score line just up to the score line that is going across the card. Do the same on the right side of the card and then turn the card around and do the same on the 2 corners at the other end.
5. Put adhesive on each corner piece and glue inside to form a corner.
6. Repeat for all 4 corners on the top and bottom of box.
7. Put lid and bottom of box together and tie with a bow.
